Privacy policy

What Knuckleheads collects when you play, why we need it, and how to get it deleted.

Effective September 25, 2026. Last updated October 2, 2026.

Who we are

Knuckleheads is a VR game for Meta Quest made by Loosetooth Games LLC, an independent studio in Michigan, United States. In this policy, "we," "us," and "our" mean Loosetooth Games LLC. "You" means anyone who plays Knuckleheads.

If you have any question about this policy or your data, email us:

What we collect

From Meta

When you launch the game, the Meta Platform SDK gives us your app-scoped user ID (an ID Meta creates just for this app), your Meta display name, and an entitlement check that confirms you own the game. If you use features like inviting friends or seeing which friends are playing, we also access your Meta friends list and their online status (presence). We never see your Meta password, email, or payment details.

From PlayFab (our game backend)

We create a player account in PlayFab that is linked to your Meta user ID. It stores your saved progress and stats, any in-game items you own if the game offers them, your device type and operating system, your IP address, and when you log in.

We also send basic gameplay events to PlayFab so we can see how the game is being played, such as sessions started and how long they last, matches played, which modes and maps are used, and errors or crashes. These events are tied to your player account, not to your real name.

From multiplayer (Photon Fusion)

When you play online, Photon Fusion processes your IP address, a temporary session player ID, and live gameplay data. That gameplay data includes your character's movement, which comes from your headset and controller tracking. It passes through Photon's servers to the other players in your match so they can see you.

From voice chat (Photon Voice)

If you allow microphone access, your voice is sent live to the other players in your session through Photon's servers.

We do not record, store, or listen to voice chat. Your voice is streamed in real time and is gone once it is played back to other players.

The game asks for microphone permission before voice chat works, and you can deny it or turn it off at any time in your Quest settings. You can also mute yourself or mute any other player in game.

Headset and controller tracking

We only use the position and rotation of your headset and controllers, and only to move your character. We do not store this tracking data.

Knuckleheads does not use your headset's cameras, passthrough, room scans or scene data, hand tracking, eye tracking, or face tracking.

When you sign up for the beta

The Knuckleheads beta is only open to people whose Meta account is 18 or older. If you sign up on our website, we keep what you put in the form: your Meta username, the email on your Meta account, your headset, why you want to play, and your Discord username if you add it. We also keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for a short time to stop spam signups. We use this only to pick testers, add them to the beta through Meta, and email them about the beta. Signups are checked automatically for spam and offensive language before we review them.

When you contact us

If you email us for support or anything else, we keep whatever you send us, like your email address, your in-game name, and the contents of your message and any attachments.

How we use it

  • To run multiplayer, matchmaking, and voice chat.
  • To save your progress and stats.
  • To check that you own the game.
  • To keep players safe, which includes handling reports, mutes, and bans.
  • To fix bugs, find crashes, and make the game better.
  • To reply when you contact us.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising.

Who we share it with

We use a few companies to run the game. They only handle your data to provide their service to us, under their own privacy policies:

Other players in your match can see your display name and your character's movement, and can hear your voice if your mic is on.

We will only share data with police or other authorities if the law requires us to.

Where it's stored

Multiplayer and voice traffic runs through Photon's Canada East region. PlayFab data is generally stored on servers in the United States.

Our service providers operate in several countries, so your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States and Canada, which may have different data protection laws than where you live.

How long we keep it

  • Account, progress, and gameplay event data: until you ask us to delete it, or until your account has been inactive for 2 years, whichever comes first.
  • Voice chat: never stored.
  • Tracking data: never stored.
  • Server logs: kept by Meta, Microsoft, Exit Games, and Unity for as long as their own policies say.
  • Beta signups: until the beta ends, then deleted within 90 days. You can ask us to delete yours sooner.
  • Support emails: as long as we need them to help you, and no longer than 2 years after the conversation ends.

Seeing or deleting your data

To see what we have about you, or to have it deleted, email hello@loosetooth.games with your in-game display name. We will delete your PlayFab player account and everything tied to it, and confirm by email. We may ask a question or two to make sure the request really comes from you. We aim to respond within 30 days.

Deleting your data resets your progress, and it can't be undone.

If you're in Europe or the UK

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to complain to your local data protection authority. We process your data because we need it to provide the game you asked to play, and for our legitimate interest in keeping the game safe and working.

If you're in California

Under the CCPA you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to ask us to delete or correct it, and to not be treated differently for using these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA.

To use any of these rights, email us at the address above.

Children

Knuckleheads is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. Because the game has live voice chat with other players, please follow Meta's age requirements for Quest accounts.

If we learn that a child under 13 has played and we have their data, we will delete it. If you're a parent and think your child has played, email us and we'll take care of it.

Security

We take reasonable steps to keep your data secure, and we rely on established providers (Meta, Microsoft, Exit Games) that protect data in transit and at rest. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't promise that data will never be accessed without permission.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the game changes. When we do, we'll change the "last updated" date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we'll also let players know in game or on our Discord.
